 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Lagos arrests 110 squatters, demolishes shanties on Red Line Corridor


The Lagos State Government says it has arrested 110 squatters in the early hours of Thursday during a lean-up operation of the Red line Corridor of Pen Cinema-Iju Ishaga area.

Kunle Adesina, a Public Affairs Director in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources in a post on X on Thursday, said the 110 squatters would be charged to court immediately.

He said the arrest was carried out by the Special Task Force on Environmental Offences led by CSP Sola Jejeloye.

Adesina added that the exercise also included the removal of all shanties on the corridor which had been removed earlier but re-erected.

According to him, the operation was directed by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab following an inspection tour to the Redline Railway corridor last Sunday by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led executive members.

He wrote: “A total of 110 squatters with questionable characters were in the early hours of Thursday arrested during a Clean-Up operation of the Red line Corridor of Pen Cinema -Iju Fagba area and would be charged to court immediately.

“The arrest which was carried out by the Special Task Force on Environmental Offences led by CSP Sola Jejeloye also involved removal of all shanties on the corridor which had been removed earlier but re-erected

“The operation was directed by the HC MOE&WR Tokunbo Wahab following an inspection tour to the Redline Railway corridor last Sunday by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led exco members.”
