 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. .. Assures Community of More Grassroots-Based Projects


In the bid to continue to bring infrastructural development to the grassroots and fulfil the mandate of Making Lagos State a 21st Century Economy, the Lagos State Government has commenced the construction of a 510-metre road in Ganiyu-Oduntan/Lamidi-Agoro street in Igbogbo-Baiyeku area of Ikorodu Local Government.


The project which is intended to improve road networks in the community and to help reduce travel time for vehicles and humans, was flagged off by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje on Thursday.


In his address at the flag-off ceremony, the Special Adviser disclosed that the road construction is one of the numerous projects that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has earmarked for rural communities in fulfilment of the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda of his administration.


He reiterated that the construction of roads in the communities is a strategic effort by the State Government to engender ease of movement and to reduce rural-urban migration.


Dr. Nurudeen harped on the need for members of the Community to ensure they collaborate with the contractor in ensuring the safety of the workers. He urged them to also take ownership of the project upon completion by protecting and safeguarding the road.


Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa thanked Mr. Governor for bringing development to Igbogbo-Baiyeku through the construction of Ganiyu-Oduntan/Lamidi-Agoro road, adding that the strategic community-based road project would ensure that the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of the present administration is felt in the length and breadth of Lagos, especially in rural communities.


He assured members of the community that the road project is one of the many developmental projects that the community will witness.


The Chairman, Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Engineer Sesan Daini expressed his excitement at the flag-off of the project. He thanked Mr. Governor for considering Igbogbo-Baiyeku in the implementation of his T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda.


While applauding Mr. Governor for his continuous effort in ensuring that the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda is cascaded to the grassroots through various projects, he also commended the Special Adviser and the Permanent Secretary for their efforts in recommending improved road networks in Ikorodu, adding that the road construction will aid in de-flooding the community.


His Royal Majesty Alaiyeluwa Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom applauded Mr. Governor for ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach the grassroots.


While congratulating members of the Community on the flag-off of the construction of the Ganiyu-Oduntan/Lamidi-Agoro street road project, Oba Semiudeen urged them to partner with the contractor in ensuring a peaceful work environment that would engender timely delivery of the project.


Speaking on behalf of the members of the community, a representative of the community, Pastor Oyedekun Taiwo assured that the community will continue to show appreciation by ensuring that the project is meticulously guarded upon commissioning.


Present at the flag-off were Political Appointees and Officials from the Ministry, Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Chairman, Royal Fathers, Party Chieftains, Community Leaders, Youth Leaders, Church Leaders, Market Leaders and residents of the community.


Recall that a similar project was flagged off at Ijake Community in Oto-Awori LCDA a month ago to ensure that dwellers in rural communities in the state can access infrastructure that makes rural communities livable for all and sundry.
