 Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration.  Tobi Amusan set new 60m hurdles indoor record


Nigerian Athlete, Tobi Amusan has set a new African women’s indoor record in 60 metres after finishing at 7.75 seconds at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston.

Amusan retired the 7.77 record she had previously established in Kazakhstan at the Astana Indoor Meet in January with her 7.75 seconds run in Boston.

However, despite setting the new record, she came second in Boston, with America’s Tia Jones finishing first in 7.72 seconds and Bahama’s Devynne Chalton finishing third with a time of 7.76 seconds.

Amusan had on January 27 in her opening race of the new athletic season, beaten the 7.82seconds African record set by fellow Nigerian Gloria Alozie.
