 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  50 Cent’s babymama, Daphne Joy accuses rapper of rape, assault


Daphne Joy, ex-girlfriend of the American rapper 50 Cent, has levied accusations of rape and assault against the G-Unit leader.


These claims surfaced in response to reports indicating that 50 Cent was pursuing sole custody of their son, after Joy was named in Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones’ lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs, accusing the media mogul of sex trafficking and abuse.


In an Instagram post, Joy criticised 50 Cent for his alleged neglect as a father to their son, Sire, and accused him of sexually assaulting and physically abusing her during their relationship.


“We moved to New York to give you the opportunity to be a father to your son and you saw him 10 times out of the 2 years that we lived 1 mile away from you.


“I am tired of upholding and protecting an image to our son that you have never even earned,” the post read partly.


“Let’s put the real focus on your true evil actions of raping me and physically abusing me. You are no longer my oppressor and my God will handle you from this point on.


“You have permanently damaged the last hope I had for you as a father to preserve our family with these last and final false slams made against me. You have broken our hearts for the last and final time,” she added.


In response to Joy’s allegations, 50 Cent swiftly issued a statement through his representative, refuting her claims.


He asserted that Joy’s accusations were driven by his recent pursuit of sole custody of their 12-year-old son.


“The most recent false and baseless accusations by Daphne Joy are clearly in response to my decision to seek sole custody of my son.


“My son, Sire is my main priority and keeping him in a safe environment is my only focus at this time,” the statement read inter alia.


50 Cent explained that his decision to seek sole custody of their son was to protect him, giving that Lil Rod’s suit against Diddy indicted his babymama.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
