1980 AFCON Champion Charles Bassey Dies at 71 Charles Bassey, a member of Nigeria’s historic 1980 Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad, has died at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness. He passed away on Saturday in his hometown, Eket, Akwa Ibom State. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed his death in a statement released on Monday by its General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, describing the loss as part of a “day of double tragedy” following the earlier death of team captain Christian Chukwu. Bassey was part of the Green Eagles team that secured Nigeria’s first AFCON title with a 3-0 victory over Algeria at the National Stadium in Lagos on March 22, 1980. After retiring as a player, he transitioned into coaching and managed several clubs, including Calabar Rovers, Mobil Pegasus, BCC Lions, Flash Flamingoes, Akwa United, and Wikki Tourists. His passing brings the number of deceased members of the 1980 squad to nine.

A SELF PROCLAIMED WITCH ARRESTED WHEN SHE LIGHTS A FIRE ON A STRANGER'S PORCH AFTER READING A "WITCHES WELCOME" SIGN. (PHOTO).

A self proclaimed witch arrested when she lights a fire on a stranger's porch after reading a "Witches Welcome" sign.

As 46-year-old Michelle Young strolled through a Burlington, Iowa neighborhood she collected various items she could apparently use to cast a spell. These items included a taillight, aluminum foil (no surprise there), tree bark and a yellow lawn flag, all of which apparently contain a surprising amount of magic.

She then went to a home that she believed belonged to a friend. After knocking and not receiving an answer she noticed a convenient sign stating, "Witches Welcome."

This was excellent news as she had just acquired the perfect magical materials for casting spells. She began burning the items she had collected releasing their magic into the ether.

The surprised homeowner contacted police when she noticed a witch seemingly lighting her porch on fire. I guess this woman doesn't actually live by the "Witches Welcome" creed.

Police arrested Michelle Young a short time later walking in the neighborhood, and she readily admitted lighting the fire, citing the witch sign as her reason.

I guess police also don't honor the" Witches Welcome" creed as she was charged with reckless use of fire, explosive, or destructive devices.

Oh and she was also charged with drug paraphernalia.
