BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE FOUR SUSPECTS ARRESTED OVER FARMER-HERDER CLASH IN NINGI LGA THAT CLAIMED ONE LIFE Following the unfortunate farmer-herder clash at Guda Village in Ningi Local Government Area, the Command wishes to inform the public that four suspects have now been arrested in connection with the incident. On 23rd September, 2026 at about 0740hrs, three farmers from Guda Village went to their farms on Guda Hill and found cattle belonging to a herder grazing on and destroying their crops. They chased the cattle to the herders' settlement where an argument ensued and degenerated into a fight. In the process, the three farmers sustained injuries. Sadly, in retaliation, some youths from Guda Village mobilized and set ablaze houses at the herders settlement. Operatives from Ningi Division responded promptly, restored normalcy and evacuated the injured to General Hospital Ningi.  Agency decries increasing cult activities in Abia higher institutions


The Director General, Abia State Orientation Agency, Pastor Dike Nwankwo has decried the increase in cult activities in the state’s higher institutions.


He made the condemnation on Tuesday in Umuahia following the recent clash between different cult groups in Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), which took the life of a student, leaving the institution in a state of unrest.


Nwankwo, who recalled the sensitization on Anti-cultism and Drug Addiction organized by his agency in December 2023, stated that the essence is to curb the menace of drug addiction and cultism among youths of the state.


He therefore enjoined all Abia citizens and residents, especially youths in various institutions of higher learning, to shun cultism and abstain from drug abuse, noting that the practices are destructive.


Nwankwo maintained that the reorientation and mind-shift initiative of the Governor Alex Otti administration must be sustained as its impact is already being felt.


He commended the governor for taking immediate action in restoring calm in the state university.
