  A 23-year-old Nigerian woman identified as Osarugbe, has died in Libya. African beauty products   She passed away at about 11:33am on Friday, April 4, 2025 after battling illness.    Anti-human trafficking advocate, Yakubu Oyiza and her team had been raising money to bring her back to Nigeria for better medical treatment as hospitals in Libya rejected her.    According to Oyiza, documents for burial, autopsy, and land to bury her in Libya have been arranged, all costing approximately 350,000.   She alleged that the family abandoned her since she fell sick and had earlier refused to go to Kano and pick her up the day she was supposed to be brought back to Nigeria.    In a Facebook post on Saturday, April 5, Oyiza revealed that some family members of the deceased called them asking for Osas’ properties.  BOAT REGATTA: LASG ANNOUNCES POSTPONEMENT



Lagos State Government has postponed the highly anticipated Lagos State Boat Regatta originally slated for Easter Monday, 1st of April, 2024. 


A release issued today by the State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, said the postponement of the event comes as part of the government's efforts to ensure optimal participation and enjoyment for all attendees.


It noted that the Boat Regatta is a hallmark event in Lagos' cultural calendar for celebrating the vibrant maritime heritage of the state, while providing a platform for showcasing traditional boat racing and cultural performances 


The Ministry assured all stakeholders and Lagosians that the rescheduled date will allow for better coordination and preparation, promising an unforgettable experience for residents and visitors alike. 


The statement reads, “The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, being the coordinating Ministry for the event, apologized for any inconvenience caused by the postponement with a promise that a new date for the Lagos State Boat Regatta will be communicated as soon as possible”.


“The Ministry also extends its gratitude to all participants, stakeholders, and sponsors of the event for their understanding and flexibility regarding the unanticipated development”.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
