 SANWO-OLU CELEBRATES EX-FIRST LADY, ABIMBOLA FASHOLA AT 60   Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the former First Lady, Dame Abimbola Fashola, on her 60th birthday, describing her as an Amazon, a selfless giver and an experienced administrator.   He said Abimbola, wife of former Governor of Lagos State and ex-Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), who clocks 60 on Sunday, is beacon of hope, positive energy and development, which she deployed in great proportions towards her pet projects during her tenure as First Lady.  COUNTER TERRORISM: NIGERIAN ARMY TROOPS NEUTRALIZE TERRORISTS, RECOVER ARMS, RUSTLED CATTLE  IN BORNO, KATSINA



Nigerian Army  troops deployed for counter terrorism  operations in the North East in  conjunction with Hybrid Forces on

Wednesday 26 March 2024 neutralized one terrorist and recovered arms, ammunition and rustled cattle  during a clearance operation on identified  Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province enclaves within Gori general  area in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.


 In a fierce firefight, the troops successfully overpowered and, neutralized one terrorist, rescued several rustled cattle and recovered arms and ammunition from the terrorists. The recovered arms included 2 AK-47 rifles, 38 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, AK-47 Magazines, one Improvised Explosive Device and one motorcycle.


In another operation in Katsina State, troops conducting  offensive operation on terrorist camps, neutralized 2 terrorists at Garin Rinji general area in Batsari Local Government Area following a gun battle. The gallant troops overwhelmed the insurgents with superior firepower, destroyed several hideouts and recovered 2 motorcycles and 25  rustled livestock during the operation. Troops are still sustaining offensive operations to clear  terrorists in the general area.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
