Entire staff at a Wisconsin Dollar General quit on the same day when store cracks down on donation policies.
Those trying to shop at the Dollar general store in Mineral Point, Wisconsin were met with a hand written sign stating- "We quit".
Six employees, including the manager and assistant manager, walked out leaving the store with no employees. The workers say under appreciation, long hours, low pay and understaffing were all factors. However they say when corporate told them they could no longer mark down goods close to expiration dates or discontinued and then donate them to local food banks, they had had enough.
In a statement from the company they confirmed that the Mineral Point Dollar General had donated 7,500 lbs of food to local food banks but said food safety was their top priority and they are required to follow Feeding America donation policies. However, they did not clarify what those policies are.
