Adeleke appoints another Owa of Igbajo

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved the appointment of Dr. Ademola Makinde as another Owa of Igbajo.

The Nation recalls that Oba Adegboyega Famodun was appointed by the previous administration after he was nominated by the kingmakers of the town.

However, Governor Adeleke faulted his selection and used warrant chiefs to select the new king last Friday.

Oba Famodun said he remains the Owa of Igbajo and will continue to reign till the court says otherwise.

Governor Adeleke yesterday morning in a statement through his Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said the appointment of the new Owa was reached at an executive meeting held at the Exco chambers, in line with due process, chieftaincy law and tradition.

He said Governor Adeleke at the meeting congratulated the new Owa of Igbajo and urged him to heal the wounds of the selection process by ensuring inclusive traditional governance.

“I advise the new Owa of Igbajo to embark on reconciliation and restore the dignity and integrity of the traditional institution.”
