 ANAMBRA POLICE DISMISS REPORTS OF GUNMEN ATTACK, SAY NO SOLDIERS KILLED,THREATEN TO INVOKE CYBER LAWS ON PERPETRATORS  By Uche Kalu  Anambra State Police Command has dismissed a report making the rounds that 21 Soldiers have been killed in Anambra State.  This was contained in a statement by Police Public Relations Officers, SP Tochukwu Ikenga on Wednesday, urging the general public to disregard the report, saying that it is false and misleading. According to the PPRO, Anambra State Police Command is aware of a misleading, unfounded, and false report titled Gunmen Kill 21 Soldiers in Anambra recently peddled by some online media and national dailies. The Command wishes to state that the report is untrue, a product of fiction, and the handiwork of mischief-makers.  Ikenga also stated that the command in dismay at the news, has observed that the said hospital mentioned in the report, where the corpses of the soldiers are allegedly kept, does not exist in Awka, the state capital.  He mai

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has forwarded to the Benue State House of Assembly for confirmation, eight (8) names to serve as Chairman and Members of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).


They are:


1. DR. JOHN CHEN - Chairman


2. TERHEMEN SHOM- Member (1)  


3. THEODORE IORDYE UCHI- Member (2)


4. SOLOMON AIKIGHE DEVA- Member (3)  


5. EDACHE ISAAC- Member (4)


6. MRS. GLORIA CLEMENT- Member (5)


7. PETER BABA OGAGBOLO- Member (6)


8. DR. GISAOR VINCENT- Secretary


The Governor says the nominees have been considered suitable based on their track records, and will be responsible for the conduct of elections into the Local Government areas in the State.


He charges them to be fair, just and always consider the interest of the state above theirs in the discharge of their duties.
