 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. HAWAIIAN INMATE ESCAPES JAIL ONLY TO BE FALLY STRUCK BY VEHICLE WHILE HW WAS ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE GUARDS. (PHOTO).

 Hawaiian inmate escapes jail only to be fatally struck by vehicle while he was attempting to elude guards. 


Mathew Ornellas Jr. passed away Thursday after being struck by a vehicle during a daring jail escape last Friday. 


According to officials, Ornellas scaled a razor wire fence at Kauai community correctional center. Guards began chasing him but lost sight of him when he entered a brushy area. Moments later they heard a loud sound from a nearby road and went to investigate.  They soon discovered Ornellas lying on the side of Kuhio Highway suffering from serious injuries. 


He was transported to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition until he passed away Thursday. 


Ornellas was a minimum security inmate serving time on a drug conviction. 


The driver who struck him fled the scene and is still at large. Police are asking anyone who knows the drivers identity to do the right thing and come forward with the information.


I can't help but feel sorry for him because he was only there on a light charge. I hope they find the driver. I'm sure he didn't see Ornellas, as he was eluding officers.
