 NIGERIA IMPOSES 10-YEAR ENTRY BAN, $15 DAILY FINE FOR VISA OVERSTAYS Effective August 1, the Federal Government will impose strict penalties on visa overstays, including: - $15 daily fine starting from visa expiry date   - 5-year entry ban for overstays beyond 6 months   - 10-year ban for overstays beyond 1 year Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced the measures in Lagos while unveiling a new Expatriate Administration System aimed at tightening immigration control and improving data accuracy. Starting May 1, the ministry will also roll out: - Automated Landing/Exit Cards - Electronic Visa system - Expatriate Insurance & upgraded ID cards - Revised Expatriate Quota system Tunji-Ojo stressed the need for accurate data on foreigners, noting current figures fall short of reality.

The former head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, has asked Nigerians and fans of the Super Eagles to continue to show support to the players, saying that ā€œthese players make sacrifices to bring them joy.ā€


He said this via his X handle on Wednesday, March 6.


He noted: ā€œI want to thank all Nigerians and the entire press for the interest, support, and encouragement given to the Super Eagles while I was their coach.


ā€œI would like to ask all of you to always support your players.


ā€œThese athletes give their all for the Super Eagles, taking pride in representing their country. The players make sacrifices to bring you joy.


ā€œThe Super Eagles deserve all your support, which will be very important for the great challenges that lie ahead.ā€


The Portuguese resigned his post last week following the expiration of his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation.
