 501 Blind Candidates to Sit 2025 UTME — Okebukola Chairman of the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG), Prof. Peter Okebukola, has announced that 501 blind candidates will take the 2025 UTME across 11 centres nationwide on April 28–29. Okebukola confirmed that the candidates will write the same exams as others without lowered standards. He also revealed that 84 SSCE-qualified blind candidates will have their registration fees refunded on-site. Since 2017, JAMB has supported blind candidates with free accommodation, meals, transport aid, and exam materials under the leadership of Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede. This year’s exam will feature two formats: Fully-Braille and Fully Read-Aloud. Lagos and Kano have the highest number of blind candidates, with experienced professors coordinating the centres.

 Minister Of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh Visits Abia State, Pledges Collaboration For Development


In a bid to foster development and strengthen ties within the Niger Delta Region, the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, recently embarked on a significant working visit to Abia State. His visit aimed at assessing ongoing projects, exploring collaboration opportunities, and addressing pertinent issues concerning the region's development.


Upon his arrival, Minister Abubakar Momoh paid a courtesy visit to the esteemed Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Alex Otti. The reception was warm, with Governor Otti commending the Minister for his outstanding performance in office thus far. He lauded the Minister's efforts and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Ministry and the government of Abia State to achieve more impactful development outcomes not only within the state but also across the entire Niger Delta Region.


During the meeting, Governor Otti also highlighted the need for attention to be given to some abandoned projects in the state, urging the Ministry to prioritize their completion for the benefit of the citizens.


In response, Minister Abubakar Momoh commended Governor Otti for his remarkable developmental achievements within a relatively short period since assuming office. He encouraged the Governor to maintain the momentum and assured him of the Ministry's commitment to supporting such transformative initiatives.


Subsequently, Minister Momoh embarked on a comprehensive inspection tour of various ongoing projects across Abia State. These included:


1. Ntigha Umuopara Amuzu Akanu Ohanze Isiahla Road: Located in Obingwa LGA, phase 1 (2.5km).


2. Land Reclamation and Erosion Control Project: Situated at Ogudu Asa Phase 1.


3. Rehabilitation of Okaiga Nkwoegwu Primary/Secondary School: Found in Umuahia North LGA.


4. Emergency Construction of Road Obehie Junction to NDDC Abia State Office: Located in Oke-Ikpe, Akwa West LGA.


5. Emergency Repairs of Failed and Unmotorable Sections of Amaku to Umuomianta Mbawsi: Covering Lot 1&2 in Isialangwa LGA.


The Minister's visit also included a meeting with the Chairman of Umuahia North Traditional Rulers Council, HRM (Sir) Ize Innocent Adiele Nwaigwe, to discuss traditional perspectives on development and community engagement.


The visit signifies a renewed commitment to collaborative efforts aimed at accelerating development, fostering inclusivity, and improving the quality of life for the people of Abia State and the wider Niger Delta Region. It underscores the importance of partnership and collective action in achieving sustainable development goals.


Through continued collaboration and concerted efforts, it is envisaged that Abia State and the Niger Delta Region as a whole will experience enhanced socio-economic transformation, infrastructure development, and overall progress.
