 Carrick favourite for Man Utd caretaker role Michael Carrick has emerged as favourite to be appointed Manchester United caretaker head coach, according to sources close to the process. Club chiefs are hoping to have an appointment in place for when players return to training on Wednesday. While a final decision is yet to be reached, talks are said to have progressed with the 44-year-old over the position. Carrick previously had a three-game stint as United's temporary boss following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal in 2021. He won two and drew one of those matches but left after Ralf Rangnick's arrival as interim manager. Solskjaer held face-to-face discussions with the club on Saturday about a return. United sacked Ruben Amorim as manager after 14 months in the job on 5 January.   Terrorists Abduct 87 In Fresh Kajuru Attack


In a recent assault on the Kajuru-Station community in Kaduna State, terrorists have kidnapped 87 individuals, as confirmed by Harisu Dari, a member of the Kajuru-Station Youths.


The incident occurred on Sunday night, with the assailants also looting shops for food items and valuables. 


This abduction follows closely on the heels of another attack in the Dogon-Noma community, where 15 women and a man were taken just two days prior. 


Over the past two weeks, Kajuru and Chikun LGs have witnessed a surge in kidnapping incidents, intensifying tensions within the state. 


Despite the grim situation, security forces have yet to be deployed to the affected area, leaving villagers distraught and calling for government intervention.


This latest abduction adds to the alarming tally of over 172 villagers kidnapped by terrorists in the past fortnight.


Efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, for comment remain unanswered at this time.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
