 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. THREE ABIA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS DIE IN AUTO CRASH. (PHOTOS).).


 Three Abia university students die in auto crash. 


Three Abia State University Uturu Medicine and Surgery students returning to Aba from the school’s induction of medical students reportedly died in an auto crash on Thursday.

Six of them were said to be returning from Uturu when the accident happened.


“Three students have been confirmed dead, while two others are injured and are battling

for their lives now in the hospital while one miraculously survived,” a source said. In a viral video, men of the Federal Road Safety Corps were seen at the scene of the accident. There is also a.separate video of the victims in the hospital.


Another source said the accident happened when the driver of the vehicle the students were travelling in lost control and summersaulted. Confirming the incident, the Corps Commander of the FRSC, Abia State, Fredrick Ogiden said his men went there shortly after the accident, stating that the vehicle was an ash-coloured private Toyota Camry.


He said that the incident happened at the Okigwe axis of the Enugu-Umuahia Expressway. Efforts made to contact the state police authorities on the crash proved abortive as officials did not take their calls.
