 FIRST IMPORTED EBOLA CASE: NIGERIA EVACUATES INDEX CASE TO SWITZERLAND AS CONTAINMENT MEASURES CONTINUE The Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola index case has been medically evacuated from Abuja to Switzerland, following approval by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate. The forty-two-year-old patient, whose case marked Nigeria’s first imported Ebola virus disease case, was transferred alongside her spouse, who has remained asymptomatic. In a statement posted on his X handle, Professor Pate said the patient was clinically much improved, stable, conscious and able to communicate, with laboratory test results approaching baseline levels. However, the Minister cautioned that the patient’s clinical improvement does not necessarily mean she is no longer infectious, stressing that strict public health protocols remain in place.  Why we banned political gatherings – Benue govt


The Benue State Government has stated reasons it banned political gatherings and meetings in the state.


It said the insecurity in the state made Governor Hyacinth Alia to take the measure.


The state government said the ban covers all forms of intra-party and inter-group meetings in the north-central state till further notice.


This was revealed by the governor’s Chief of Staff, Paul Biam, adding that the ban became necessary because of the volatility of the security atmosphere in Benue.


He lamented that the security atmosphere became charged, following what he described as the unprecedented influx of armed herdsmen into the state.


The Chief of Staff in his letter to the state Commissioner of Police, urged him to enforce the directive on the ban.
