 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  Why we banned political gatherings – Benue govt


The Benue State Government has stated reasons it banned political gatherings and meetings in the state.


It said the insecurity in the state made Governor Hyacinth Alia to take the measure.


The state government said the ban covers all forms of intra-party and inter-group meetings in the north-central state till further notice.


This was revealed by the governor’s Chief of Staff, Paul Biam, adding that the ban became necessary because of the volatility of the security atmosphere in Benue.


He lamented that the security atmosphere became charged, following what he described as the unprecedented influx of armed herdsmen into the state.


The Chief of Staff in his letter to the state Commissioner of Police, urged him to enforce the directive on the ban.
