  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. A POLICE MAN CUT OFF HIS WIFE HAND YESTERDAY AFTER SHE REFUSED TO GIVE HIM N3K OF N20K. (PHOTO).

 A police Man cut off his wife hand yesterday afternoon, Because she refused to give him 3k out of the 20k,  that he gave her to save for their up keeping. 


The Inspector reportedly left the money at his residence in the Dong area of Jos North local government area of Plateau State.


However, upon returning to retrieve the money, a dispute arose between him and his pregnant spouse, resulting in a violent altercation.

The State Police Command verified that the individual in question has been apprehended, and an investigation is currently underway.


According to Vanguard, the Police Spokesman, DSP Alfred Alabo, confirmed via phone that the Command is aware of the incident, saying, “We are aware of the incident. The man is an Inspector. Right now, he is at the State CID, and the investigation is ongoing.

“He has a minor misunderstanding with his wife over some money. They had an argument over some N20,000 he kept in the house, and he said he was looking for the money to do something, and an argument ensued. The case is under investigation.”

However, the woman is hospitalized as a neighbour who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “The wife is pregnant, she refused to give the man N3,000 from the N20,000. The argument was heated and before we knew it, the man cut off her hand. No one can say why he did that, but we were concerned about her. She was rushed to a hospital.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha.
