ANAMBRA STATE GOVT AWARDS CONTRACT TO RECLAIM GULLY EROSION AND CONTROL FLOOD THREATENING GOVT HOUSE, AGU AWKA; AND OTHER CONTRACTS
Resuming from the Easter break, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved the award of a number of contracts.
Anambra State has been described as the erosion capital of the world, and one of the many sites is at Agu Awka GRA that is threatening the present Government House, buildings around the vicinity and the lives of people living there. The non-channelization of floodwater within the area has been responsible for the exacerbation of the gully erosion site.
After due consideration of the memo presented by Engr Ifeanyi Okoma, Anambra State Commissioner for Works, ANSEC approved the award of the contract for the reclamation and control of the flood and gully erosion of the site.
The contract was awarded to CEFAC International Ltd at the cost of N352,106,781. 81k (Three hundred and fifty-two million, one hundred and six thousand, seven hundred and eighty-one naira, eighty-one kobo only). The work is expected to be completed in 24 weeks from the date of mobilization.
The Council also gave the go-ahead for additional work to be done on the 685m length of road which, if left unconstructed, will pose a great danger to the Isuofia-Nanka road about to be built as it would create more gully erosion.
AG Vision Construction Ltd was given the job at the cost of N393,500,000 (Three hundred and ninety-three million, five hundred thousand naira only)
In a bid to better secure the State House of Assembly which was recently renovated comprehensively to ensure that lawmakers work in a conducive environment, ANSEC equally approved that gate house, security post and perimeter fence should be emplaced as well as the landscaping to enhance the aesthetics of the environment. The external works will also include the asphalting of the roads, laying of kerbs in the House of Assembly complex with a well-structured parking lot and dedicated green areas.
The job went to HEMEBS Construction Nigeria Ltd at the cost of N184,656, 501.12k ( One hundred and eighty-four million, six hundred and fifty-six thousand, five hundred and one naira, twelve kobo). The job is expected to be completed within three months of mobilization.
