 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results.  APC state chairmen pass confidence vote in Ganduje


…say ‘coup’ to sack him has failed


Forum of All Progressives Congress State Chairmen, on Tuesday, passed a vote of confidence in the party’s National chaiyrman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

 

The 37 state party chairmen said there was a coup to remove Ganduje as APC National Chairman but it failed.


They made their position known during a solidarity visit to the secretariat of the party in Abuja, where they pledged their allegiance to Ganduje.


The acting Chairman of the Forum and Lagos APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, said they were solidly behind Ganduje and would defend him against external aggression.


He said, “We are here to let you know that you remain the captain of the ship. After all, those who made the announcement were not even known to the party in the first place. We will not allow you to be embarrassed like the former chairmen of the party.


“What they wanted to do was a coup. But the coup has failed. We are here to show that we are solidly behind you anytime, any day.”
