 IGP DECLARES OPEN 2025 NIGERIA POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICERS’ CONFERENCE …Tasks PPROs on strategic communication, combating misinformation The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, on Monday, December 8, 2025, declared open the 2025 Annual Conference of Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) of the Nigeria Police Force, held at the Police Resource Centre, Abuja. In his keynote address, the IGP described the annual conference as “a strategic national engagement and a critical platform for strengthening police-public communication, shaping national narratives constructively, and deepening trust between the Police and citizens.” He emphasised that modern-day policing is increasingly defined by public trust, transparency, and the quality of communication between law enforcement agencies and the public, noting that the Public Relations Officers remain central to institutional credibility.  Boko Haram terrorists slaughter 27 fishermen in Cameroon


No fewer than 27 fishermen were slaughtered  while three others  were abducted by the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, (Boko Haram terrorist group) in the fringes of Lake Chad in the border between Cameroon and Nigeria.

It was gathered that terrorists suspected to be from the Buduma faction of Abou Ummaymah, attacked a local fishing community harbouring most fishermen from Nigeria at Island Kofiya near Darak in the Republic of Cameroon.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that they asked them to lie down, tie their hands behind their backs before they started slaughtering them.

The sources said the terrorists also abducted four other fishermen after accusing them of spying for the ISWAP faction

The bodies of the fishermen were later recovered during a search and rescue operation by troops and their colleagues who received the news from victims who fled the attack scene.
