 Alleged Defilement: Ogun Drops Charges Against School Proprietor, Cites Lack of Evidence …decries social media incitement against the accused, govt The Ogun State Government has decided not to press charges against the proprietor of Perfect Life School, Igode-Remo, Mr. Ashafa Samson Adelaja, over allegations of defilement. According to the state Ministry of Justice, following its findings after a thorough investigation of the allegations against Adelaja, the State Government, on Thursday, informed the Chief Magistrate sitting in the Sagamu Magisterial District that it would not be bringing any charges against him. Accordingly, Mr. Ashafa was unconditionally released from prison custody, according to a statement issued by the ministry.  Fire guts LP chairman Abure’s house in Abuja


The Labour Party (LP) has said the residence of its National Chairman, Julius Abure was gutted by fire on Wednesday. 

The party also claimed that there was an assassination attempt on Abure. 

The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh said Abure’s residence was “gutted by a mysterious fire which started a few minutes after 1am while Abure and the members of his family were asleep.”

The statement quoted a member of the family who narrated the incident, saying the family was woken up by neighbours and security men living in the compound.

The statement reads: “The entire family was trapped as the inferno had reached the staircase making it impossible for Abure and family to escape. 

“However, it took divine intervention for the national chairman and his family to escape after neighbours and security men gallantly pulled down one of the windows upstairs making ways for the family to escape.

“Men of the Fire Service arrived shortly after Abure and his family were evacuated.

“Abure and his family were rushed to a private hospital where they are presently receiving treatment. Their condition is however stable.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
