 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. FIRST LADY OF LAGOS STATE RECEIVES NSCDC STATE COMMANDANT, KESHINRO HARPS ON SAFETY IN SCHOOLS, CALLS FOR MORE GOVERNMENT SUPPORT.


"NSCDC personnel are doing very wonderfully well in our general hospitals in Lagos State," Dr Ibijoke Sanwo - Olu said.


The First Lady of Lagos State, Her Excellency, Dr Mrs Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo - Olu received, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro earlier today, Tuesday, 30th April, 2024, in Alahusa - Ikeja


The First Lady affirmed that the role of the Corps in ensuring peace, security amd safety of the sate has been immeasurable. She scored the Corps so high in the role it has played in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure in the state, especially, the way personnel attached to general hospitals have professionally and dutifully used their rare gotten skills to render quality and unmatchable service in the state.


Her Excellency, further commended the Corps for the role it has been playing in educational institutions in the State. This undetered determination amongst others she believed will put a total halt to social vices and its menace in our schools amidst others.


The First Lady pointed out that the Government will continue to support the Corps in all ramifications and in the best ways possible as and when due. Her Excellency also charged the Corps to ensure unhindered collaboration with the State Government as this will further enhance improved performance on its mandates.


NSCDC personnel are doing very wonderfully well in our general hospitals in Lagos State,, we are seeing their work and we wish to commend them," Her Excellency said 


The NSCDC, Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro presented the purpose of his visit to the First Lady of Lagos State in a very professional manner. The Lagos State Commandant amidst other requests  harped seriously, on the safety of all educational institutions in the State; tertiary, secondary and elementary. The menace of bullying, sexual harassment, assault, rape, abuse, cultism, abduction and kidnapping et ce tera will be forestalled proactively, following the safe school programme inaugurated by the Federal Government aimed at eradicating hushed voices in the educational sector.


The Special Female Squad has also been trained to ensure the forestalling and eradication of the above vices and offences being perpetrated  usually, amongst school children nowadays and external foes. The Corps will continue to be committed to its school enlightenment programmes in the state in a bid to strengthen peace and security.


The Lagos State Commandant also seized the visit to call on the Government for more support with operational logistics and gadgets and other very key areas that will further enhance its performances. He also avowed the Command's commitment to continue to do more because to whom much is given much is expected.
