 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  IKPEAZU MOURNS THE DEATH OF DR OGBONNAYA ONU



Immediate Past Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed deep sadness at the death of the first Civilian Governor of the old Abia State, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu who died today in Abuja at the age of 72 years.


Dr. Ikpeazu describes the death of Dr Onu as a massive loss to the  political development of our country and especially, to Ndigbo, whose political cause he championed with passion and zeal.


The former Governor recalls Dr Onu's time as the first democratically elected Governor of the old Abia State, between January 1992 and December 1993, a period that was characterized by peaceful coexistence and the setting of the ideological foundations for the development of Abia State.


According to Dr. Ikpeazu, "Dr Onu was an astute academic and administrator. He was calm, gentle and never played politics without bitterness. After his service in the State, he would go on to the national stage where he held different positions wherein he left legacies of honor and patriotism. His death has left a big vaccum in our political space".

"Perhaps, the greatest political legacy for which Dr Onu will be remembered is that he never played politics with bitterness and remained very consistent in his ideologies. Whether in the ruling party or in the opposition, he remained resolute to his ideals". 


Former Governor Ikpeazu prays God to accept his gentle soul and comfort his family and the entire people of the old Abia State.
