 Rivers Politics: I’m focused on Tinubu’s assignment, not distracted  – Wike Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on the assignment given go him by President Bola Tinubu to give a facelift to the nation’s capital, saying he cannot be distracted by the politics of his home state, Rivers. He said his major priority now is to ensure that all the projects slated for commissioning by the President to mark his first anniversary are completed, even as checks revealed that most of the projects were almost completed. The minister announced this on Friday in Abuja during an inspection tour of some projects to be commissioned by the end of the month. “I am not distracted. If I am distracted you won’t see this performance here. I focus on my work. I am not interested. I am the Minister of FCT, the works are going on. if distracted how will these works be progressing? Nigerian afrobeats star, Davido has described the kind of music he does as Afrofusion.


Davido, by this revelation, joins the growing list of artistes comprising Wizkid, Burna Boy and Fireboy to not identify with the Afrobeats genre.


Featuring on the latest edition of the Business Untitled Podcast, the ‘OBO’ crooner lamented the “boxing” of all African artistes into the Afrobeats genre regardless of their musical styles.


He said, “The first place that accepted African music outside Africa is the UK before America later join. The UK termed African music Afrobeats.


“Afrobeat is a sound that was originally pioneered by Fela Kuti. But now all African songs are termed Afrobeats. If an African artiste sings pure R&B, sounding like SZA, Summerwalker, they put them under Afrobeats. If an African rapper rapping like Drake, they still put them under Afrobeats.


“I don’t get offend when we’ve been categorised as Afrobeats. I mean, we need a genre. It could be R&B or Afropop. I call my music Afrofusion but I’m not big on ‘O put Afrofusion on my song.’ I know how long it took for African music to become mainstream.”

Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
