 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  NNPP Suspends Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf



The Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria People's Party,NNPP, has suspended the Governor of Kano state, Abba Yusuf for six months over alleged involvement in anti party activities.


National Secretary of the party, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday disclosed this on Tuesday at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.


He said the suspension of the governor was a culmination of a recent invitation extended to him to appear before a disciplinary committee to explain infractions on the party constitution which he refused to appear.


Oginni also disclosed that Gov Yusuf was expected to appear before the committee to explain why he participated in an illegal/factional national convention organised by the Kwankwasiya group at Class Event Center in Wuse, Abuja on April 6, 2024.


He further explained that, in accordance with Article 39.0, 39(1-4) on disciplinary procedures of the party, His Excellency Abba Yusuf was availed with an unfettered opportunity to explore all openings to resolve the issues being investigated as stipulated therein in relation to allegations of gross misconduct brought against him, but  he failed to take advantage of the opportunity by not appearing.
