 Apapa Customs Celebrates Exemplary Leadership, as Comptroller Jaiyeoba Takes a Bow Officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, as well as stakeholders within the environs, have extolled the Customs Area Controller Apapa Command, Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba, as he takes a bow after 35 years of dedicated service.  A send-off party was held at the Command in honour of the CAC on Friday, 3 May 2024. The event had in attendance the Assistant Comptroller General of Customs/Zonal Coordinator Zone A, Hammi Swomen, Comptroller Ajibola Odusanya, Comptroller Caroline Ayo, Commissioner of Police, Western Port Authority Command, Olanrenwaju, Ishola, Representatives of sister agencies, stakeholders, as well as family and friends.  In his goodwill message, ACG Swomen congratulated Comptroller Jaiyeoba on his retirement while also commending the recent innovations and achievements of the Command.  He said, "We are highly impressed by the innovations and the things that

 Senator Ayogu Eze is dead


Senator Ayogu Eze from Enugu State is reportedly dead.


Born in 1958, he was aged 66.


The Senator represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.


A source told newsmen that Eze, a former Senate spokesman, died in an Abuja hospital after a protracted illness.


According to the source, the late Senator has been down, a situation that made him unable to attend his child’s wedding ceremony held earlier in the year in Lagos State.


He was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, before he defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, where he ran for Enugu State governorship election.


In the Senate, he was appointed chairman of the senate committee on Information and Media, making him the official spokesman of the senate in 2007.


After his reelection to the senate in 2011, he was appointed chairman of the committee on works.


Eze also served as a member of committees on Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.


In May last year, the Senate confirmed the appointment of Eze and five others as Federal Commissioners for Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
