  NINE PEOPLE ARRESTED AS CULT CLASH ROCKS BENUE BURIAL CEREMONY  PAt least nine suspected cult members have been arrested after a violent clash disrupted a burial ceremony in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident reportedly led to the destruction of homes and valuables, with several individuals still unaccounted for. Tension gripped parts of Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State after a violent clash involving suspected cult groups left properties destroyed and several persons missing. The incident occurred in Abenga, Mbakya, and Mbabur communities during the burial of one Dugeri Terhemen, popularly known as “Black Deal.” According to local sources, the burial ceremony was disrupted by clashes between rival groups, leading to chaos in the affected areas.  South Africa on high alert after level nine flood warnings


Authorities say gale-force winds wreaked havoc across the province over the weekend, blowing off rooftops and toppling trees.

Drakenstein Municipality can confirm that the South African Weather Services have issued a Level 9 warning for disruptive rain on Monday, 8 April 2024 in the Cape Winelands, which includes Drakenstein.


We are already experiencing strong winds and rain is expected from tomorrow.


Drakenstein Municipality encourage residents and businesses to please take the necessary precautions, and to ensure their homes’ gutters and downpipes are clear from leaves and debris - to prevent obstructions and flooding, and to assist the flow of stormwater.
