 COURT SENTENCES TWO KIDNAPPERS IN EKITI STATE TO DEATH BY HANGING A high court of Ekiti state has convicted and sentenced the kidnappers, Ibrahim Abubakar and Abdullahi Abubakar to death by hanging. Delivering the verdict, the Chief Judge of Ekiti state, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye who gave the order sentenced two convicts to death by hanging and discharged the third defendant, Usman Abubakar. The matter bordered on the abduction of Omoboade Adesina, a female National Youth Service Corps member in Ekiti state, on 22nd April, 2022.  Justice Lekan Ogunmoye commended the diligence of DSS prosecutors for proving the case beyond reasonable doubt.

 South Africa on high alert after level nine flood warnings


Authorities say gale-force winds wreaked havoc across the province over the weekend, blowing off rooftops and toppling trees.

Drakenstein Municipality can confirm that the South African Weather Services have issued a Level 9 warning for disruptive rain on Monday, 8 April 2024 in the Cape Winelands, which includes Drakenstein.


We are already experiencing strong winds and rain is expected from tomorrow.


Drakenstein Municipality encourage residents and businesses to please take the necessary precautions, and to ensure their homes’ gutters and downpipes are clear from leaves and debris - to prevent obstructions and flooding, and to assist the flow of stormwater.
