 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment. He wrote: “Most times, the best way to help your family is to turn your back on incessant monetary demands from them and focus on building yourself to the point where you are in a position to render sustainable help without crippling yourself. 


The most common mistake most people make which has kept many in stagnant financial position is trying to attend to every family need even when they themselves could barely solve their own needs. That way, both the one trying to help and the family they are trying to help end up remaining in poverty.


I'm sure many of us can relate to this.


I DID NOT say you shouldn't help your family ooo. I said, don't try to solve every family problem when you are still struggling financially.”
