 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. He wrote: “Most times, the best way to help your family is to turn your back on incessant monetary demands from them and focus on building yourself to the point where you are in a position to render sustainable help without crippling yourself. 


The most common mistake most people make which has kept many in stagnant financial position is trying to attend to every family need even when they themselves could barely solve their own needs. That way, both the one trying to help and the family they are trying to help end up remaining in poverty.


I'm sure many of us can relate to this.


I DID NOT say you shouldn't help your family ooo. I said, don't try to solve every family problem when you are still struggling financially.”
