Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. THEFT: Bauchi State Police Command intercepted a stolen truck with over N30 million worth of goods, and the suspect was arrested


On the 12th of April, 2024, the Toro Divisional Police headquarters received a distress call reporting the theft of a trailer truck parked at the Maraban Jos trailer park area of Kaduna state. The stolen truck contained 35 tons of groundnut oil worth about thirty million Naira (30,000,000) and was en route from Umuahia to Kano state with a DAF CF 85 model. The Divisional Police Officer immediately led operatives to track down the truck, which was intercepted while heading towards Bauchi state. 


A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the truck had made a detour around the Maraban Jos trailer park to take a bath. Upon returning, the driver discovered that the trailer was missing from where it was parked. However, the operatives were able to recover the significant amount of goods that had been transported, including the trailer truck. 


The suspect responsible for the theft has been arrested and is currently being held for questioning. The Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, psc, Directed that A discreet investigation be carried out by the state criminal investigation department, after which the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
