 PRESS RELEASE FCT POLICE BUST CAR THEFT SYNDICATE, RECOVER TWO STOLEN VEHICLES, AND ARREST THREE SUSPECTS. …as suspects confess to refurbishing and reselling stolen vehicles as newer models On April 11, 2025, following a distress call received by Durumi Division regarding the theft of a Toyota Corolla, 2005 model, gold in colour, with registration number KUJ 208 DA, stolen from the owner’s residence, operatives of the Division immediately swung into action. The vehicle was tracked to a workshop in Durumi, where it was discovered undergoing illegal refurbishment. The colour was being altered in an attempt to evade detection and facilitate a quick resale. A further search of the premises led to the recovery of another suspected stolen vehicle—a red Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA 844 CK—previously reported stolen from a residence in Jikwoyi.  Total solar eclipse hits Mexico before moving to US, Canada


Eclipse mania gripped North America on Monday as a breathtaking celestial spectacle observed by tens of millions of people offered a rare convergence of commercial and scientific opportunities — and an excuse to party.


The Moon’s shadow plunged the Pacific coast of Mexico into total darkness at 11:07 am local time (1807 GMT) and swept across the United States at supersonic speed, before it returns to the ocean over Canada’s Atlantic coast just under an hour-and-a-half after landfall.


Festivals, viewing parties, and even mass weddings were planned along the eclipse’s “path of totality,” where the Moon could be seen completely obscuring the Sun for up to a few minutes — weather permitting. Cloud cover played spoilsport over parts of Texas.


Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador visited Sinaloa to witness firsthand the eclipse from the resort of Mazatlan, describing the event as a “very beautiful, unforgettable day.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
