 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  TROOPS AVERT TERRORISTS' ATTACK IN SOKOTO, NEUTRALIZE 7, RECOVER ARMS



Nigerian Army troops deployed for Counter-terrorism operations in North West region in conjunction with a team from the  Department of State Services (DSS) in a swift and coordinated effort to avert a potential disaster to save lives in Sokoto State, responded to a distress call, which resulted in the interception of an armed terrorists' group on rampage to wreak havoc in Modachi general area of Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State. 


The joint operation  led to the elimination of some of the terrorists and the recovery of a significant cache of arms. The terrorists, who were in transit with several motorbikes, were met with strong resistance from the security forces, leading to the elimination of 7 terrorists. The troops also recovered seven AK-47 rifles, four motorbikes, two mobile phones, and four machetes.


The successful operation is a testament to the dedication of the security forces in combating terrorism and restoring peace in troubled regions. The swift and  decisive response by the troops and the DSS team undoubtedly averted a potential disaster and saved several lives in Sokoto State.
