 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  WIKE'S WIFE, JUSTICE NYESOM WIKE, PROMOTED TO COURT OF APPEAL. 



The Rivers State Family Court, Justice Eberechi Nyesom Wike is one of the 22 judges selected and appointed to the Appeal Court of Nigeria.


It was a rigorous selection process that screened 89 nominees to fill available positions.


Having scaled through that huddles, the 22 successful judges have now been confirmed promoted.


Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola approved the promotion on April 2, 2024, and has been forwarded to President Tinubu for appointment.


Justice Eberechi Nyesom Wike is the wife of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.


Other newly appointed justices on the list indicated that Justices Polycarp Tema Kwahar, Ruqayat Ayoola, Eneche Eleojo, Asmara Akanbi Yusuf, Abdullahi Muhammad Liman, and Abdu Dogo were appointed from the North-Central region.


From the North-East region, there is only Justice Fadahu Umaru, from Borno State.


Justices Ishaq Mohammed Sani, Zainab Bage Abubakar, and Abdulaziz M. Ankara were appointed from the North-West region


From the South-East region were Justices Nnamdi Okwy Dimga Victoria, Toochukwu Nwoye, Henry Aja-Onu Njoku, Donatus Uwaezuoke Okorowo, and Ngozika N Okaisabor.


The South-South region had Justices Ntong Festus Ntong, Nehizena Idemudia Afolabi, and Eberechi Suzette Wike recommended for promotion.


From the South-West region were Justices Lateef Babajide Lawal-Akapo, Abiodun Azeem Akinyemi, Oyewumi Oyejoju Oyebiola, and Bayo Ademola Taiwo.
