  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”.  15-year-old Jaylen's huge catch has been officially certified as the biggest catch in the state of Ohio! Congratulations, Jaylen!

15-year-old Ohio girl reels in a record breaking catch! 


Jaylen Parker was jugging (using a Clorox bottle and 200 lb test line) on the Ohio River, an activity her and her dad have shared since early childhood. Little did she know she was getting ready to have the fishing story of a lifetime.  


Jaylen pulled in a 101.11 lb blue catfish, an Ohio state record if confirmed by the state! 


Jaylen admits her dad and his friend helped her wrangle in this massive fish. She says she only weighs 10 lbs more than her humongous catch so there was no way she could have pulled it in by herself.

After weighing, documenting and photographing this ancient creature from the depths of the Ohio River she released it back to continue its fish life.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
