 WORLD SIGHT DAY: DR MOUKA HAILS SOLUDO, OBIDIKE FOR FREE CATARACT SURGERY, ADVOCATES LIFELONG EYE CARE By MaryAnn Chukwuma. An eye-care specialist, Dr. Ijeoma Agatha Mouka, has commended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, for the state’s free cataract surgery intervention. Muoka, Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry equally described the intervention as timely and apt noting that cataract remains one of the leading causes of blindness, while modern surgery has become faster and less burdensome for patients. The eye specialist, who retired after 35 years in public service, said she was particularly pleased that the government had prioritised providing free cataract surgery for residents. She encouraged well-meaning Anambra residents and organisations to support similar initiatives, saying sustained interventions could help extend eye-care services to communities across the state.  2024 UTME: Kwara teenage student scores 362


A student of a public secondary school, Government Secondary School, Omu Aran, Kwara State, Olukayode Victor Olusola, scored 362 marks in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, to be among the contenders for the highest scorers in the examination.

Though the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Isaq Oloyede, had said the Board would not announce the highest scorer to avoid last year’s experience of confusing claims, Olukayode’s score is celebratory, as it is among the highest in recent years.

He scored 95 marks each in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and 77 in English Language.

His exploit is coming against the backdrop of the poor performance of candidates in the exam in which 1.4 million scored less than 200 marks out of 400. The exam was taken by over 1.8 million candidates

Also, Olukayode’s excellent performance is coming at a time when confidence is greatly eroding in what public schools have to offer and some private schools are boasting of being the most expensive in the country.

Olukayode was born in 2009 and hopes to study Electrical Electronic at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

His mother, Beatrice Tosin, while giving all the honor to God, also praised the studious and hard working nature of her child.

Innoson Gives Out Brand New IVM G5 and Salary For Life To The Man Who Prophesied About His Vehicle Manufacturing In 1979.  Last Saturday, July 22nd the Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd, Chief Dr Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma OFR gave out a brand new Innoson IVM G5 to Mr Ikechukwu Osakwe popularly known as Osabros who prophesied to him in 1979 that he would be the first man in Africa to manufacture vehicles and sell to different African countries.  The prophecy was given at the period the then Innocent Chukwuma could not boast of a car, talk less of manufacturing one.
