 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump. 24 INJURED IN KANO MOSQUE EXPLOSION. (PHOTO).


 The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the principal suspect behind the early morning mosque explosion at Gadan village in Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.


The Commissioner of Police Mohammad Usaini Gumel, disclosed this to journalist in Kano.


He said one, Shafi’u Abubakar, 38, is in police custody and has confessed to carrying out the attack due to a long-standing family dispute over inheritance sharing.


” On May 15, 2024, at approximately 5:20 a.m., a report was received of an explosion at a mosque in Gadan Village during the “Subhi Prayer,” leaving several people injured.


” Promptly, a team of security personnel, including experts in Explosive Ordnance Disposal Chemical Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN), was deployed to the scene.


"Twenty-four victims, including 20 male adults and 4 male children, were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano for treatment.


Preliminary forensic analysis suggests a suspected petrol explosion, and a detailed investigation is ongoing.


The suspect, Shafi’u Abubakar, claimed his actions were motivated by a desire to be heard in a family dispute.


CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel added that investigation is ongoing , and will release further details in due course.
