 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. 24 INJURED IN KANO MOSQUE EXPLOSION. (PHOTO).

 The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the principal suspect behind the early morning mosque explosion at Gadan village in Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.


The Commissioner of Police Mohammad Usaini Gumel, disclosed this to journalist in Kano.


He said one, Shafi’u Abubakar, 38, is in police custody and has confessed to carrying out the attack due to a long-standing family dispute over inheritance sharing.


” On May 15, 2024, at approximately 5:20 a.m., a report was received of an explosion at a mosque in Gadan Village during the “Subhi Prayer,” leaving several people injured.


” Promptly, a team of security personnel, including experts in Explosive Ordnance Disposal Chemical Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN), was deployed to the scene.


"Twenty-four victims, including 20 male adults and 4 male children, were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano for treatment.


Preliminary forensic analysis suggests a suspected petrol explosion, and a detailed investigation is ongoing.


The suspect, Shafi’u Abubakar, claimed his actions were motivated by a desire to be heard in a family dispute.


CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel added that investigation is ongoing , and will release further details in due course.
