President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”.  A 105-year-old woman gets to ride along with the fire department and police for her birthday!

All of the first responders in Plymouth, Minnesota share a special bond with Hootie Wakefield, as she loves her local police and fire department. The entire force has been celebrating her birthdays with her for several years now and the bond keeps getting stronger. For her 105th birthday the town's first responders did something a little more special and let her ride around with them while chatting with her.

They also invited her into their fire station for an up close look at their equipment and gear.

Hootie's birthday was in December but the fire department was only able to schedule her birthday wish this week. Hootie says she had a, "fabulous day and that fire truck people are fun."

The police department fulfilled their ride along wish a couple of weeks prior. Hootie has gotten the royal treatment from all area first responders for her 105th birthday.

This is a great story and I love seeing communities coming together to celebrate a wonderful generation.

There is no word on if she found the police or fire fighters more entertaining.
