 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. A 105-YEAR-OLD WOMAN GETS TO RIDE ALONG WITH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE FOR HER BIRTHDAY. (PHOTO).

 A 105-year-old woman gets to ride along with the fire department and police for her birthday! 


All of the first responders in Plymouth, Minnesota share a special bond with Hootie Wakefield, as she loves her local police and fire department. The entire force has been celebrating her birthdays with her for several years now and the bond keeps getting stronger. For her 105th birthday the town's first responders did something a little more special and let her ride around with them while chatting with her. 


 They also invited her into their fire station for an up close look at their equipment and gear.


Hootie's birthday was in December but the fire department was only able to schedule her birthday wish this week. Hootie says she had a, "fabulous day and that fire truck people are fun." 


The police department fulfilled their ride along wish a couple of weeks prior. Hootie has gotten the royal treatment from all area first responders for her 105th birthday. 


This is a great story and I love seeing communities coming together to celebrate a wonderful generation. 


There is no word on if she found the police or fire fighters more entertaining.
