 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. On the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market 2024, Dubai Police welcomed to its fleet of luxury patrols the 100th-anniversary edition of both 'Stelvio Quadrifoglio’ and 'Giulia Quadrifoglio' vehicles from Alfa Romeo by Gargash Group.

 

This strategic move aims to enhance Dubai Police's operational efficiency and increase public presence in tourist places and landmarks, further bolstering their efforts in maintaining security and providing a sense of safety to visitors.

 

The official unveiling was attended by Brigadier Khalfan Obaid Al Jallaf, Director of the Tourist Police Department, and from Gargash Group, Morgan Sunderland, General Manager at Gargash Motors and General Trading, Atul Naran, General Sales Manager at Gargash Motors, Salah Ahmed, Senior Manager of Corporate Sales, Thomas Odier, Managing Director of European Brands at Stellantis Middle East, and Floris Dekkers, General Sales Manager.

 

Brigadier Dr. Saeed Abdullah Al Qamzi, Assistant Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations for Administrative and Control Affairs, commended the partnership between Dubai Police and Gargash Group, emphasizing their close and purposeful collaboration in advancing the government's strategic objectives of enhancing the quality of life and well-being in Dubai for citizens, residents, and visitors.

 

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Force, under the leadership of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and the supervision of Expert His Excellency Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commandant for Criminal Investigation Affairs, to integrating top-tier patrols into its fleet of tourist security patrols, as well as strengthen the security presence of police officers in key tourist areas, ensuring a delightful and exceptional experience for tourists.

 

Meanwhile, Morgan Sunderland, General Manager at Gargash Motors, lauded their strategic partnership with Dubai Police, emphasizing their shared commitment to upholding values of dedication and excellence.
