 The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday.  ANAMBRA POLICE ARREST A NOTORIOUS CULTIST/ ARMED ROBBER, RECOVER A LOCALLY MADE PISTOL AND FOUR LIVE AMMUNITION



In the early hours of 29/5/2024, Anambra Police acting on credible information intercepted one Amalu Onyedika ‘M’ aged 32years old of Eziagu in Enugu State in Nkwelle, Oyi LGA of Anambra State, recovered one locally made pistol and four live ammunition.


Onyedika claimed to be a Technician, who deals on Aluminum and Glass windows business in building materials, Onitsha, confessed to being a member of the junior Vikings secret cult. He joined the notorious gang at the age of 22 and has been mentioned as one of those terrorizing  Nkwelle and its environs.


The Commissioner of Police, *CP Nnaghe Obono Itam*, directs that the investigation be widened and deepened to bring to book other gang members, and the case should be charged to court after the investigation.
