 Rivers Politics: I’m focused on Tinubu’s assignment, not distracted  – Wike Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on the assignment given go him by President Bola Tinubu to give a facelift to the nation’s capital, saying he cannot be distracted by the politics of his home state, Rivers. He said his major priority now is to ensure that all the projects slated for commissioning by the President to mark his first anniversary are completed, even as checks revealed that most of the projects were almost completed. The minister announced this on Friday in Abuja during an inspection tour of some projects to be commissioned by the end of the month. “I am not distracted. If I am distracted you won’t see this performance here. I focus on my work. I am not interested. I am the Minister of FCT, the works are going on. if distracted how will these works be progressing?  BENUE GOVT DEMOLISHES 40 SHANTIES

The Benue State government has demolished 40 illegal shanties and structures in different locations in Makurdi, the state capital.


The General Manager of the Benue State Urban Development Board (UDB), Tarnongo Mede, who led his team yesterday to carry out the demolition exercise, said it came as result of shanties springing up in some parts of the state.


He told journalists in an interview shortly after the exercise that Governor Hyacinth Alia had ordered that he should revitalise the city and by the mandate given to him, the Board under his watch would bring the city to what it should be.


“In this first phase, we have removed over 40 shanties and we were able to open roads that were blocked by developers. This assignment will continue in places where developers are blocking access roads and would cover the entire Makurdi city,” he said.


Mede added that about 800 houses, built on waterways, have been earmarked for demolition, especially around the Kanshio Layout.

Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
