 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  CP ITAM HAILS ANAMBRIANS  FOR STANDING UP AGAINST ILLEGAL SIT-AT-HOME DIRECTIVE BY CRIMINAL ELEMENTS



_Leads patrol to some identified areas and visits West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) centers in the State_


The Commissioner of Police Anambra State Police Command, *CP Nnaghe Obono Itam*, hails the good people of Anambra in their resolve to sustain the message of peace by standing up against illegal sit-at-home orders by criminal elements and any other act that threatens our national unity and public peace in the State.


The *CP* noted that Ndi Anambra is blessed with vibrant, energetic, and enterprising people full of potential and this can only be fully realized in a peaceful, secure environment. He stated this today 30th May 2024 when he led the police security patrol to some identified areas in the State to assess the security deployment and monitor compliance to the Operational order.  


He also visited schools where the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), is ongoing and was pleased with the on-the-spot assessment of the security arrangement. 


To this end, the *CP* Charges the personnel deployed for this assignment to be resolute, firm, and professional in the discharge of their duties and urges residents to remain vigilant, and law-abiding and continue to assist the Police and other security agencies, especially with information as we synergize and collaborate towards combating all forms of criminality as well as maintaining public order and safety in the State.
