Trump issues pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer after insider trading conviction    President Donald Trump has issued a full pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer, who served nearly two years in prison after being convicted of insider trading tied to post-congressional consulting work. Buyer was sentenced in 2023 to 22 months in prison for illegal stock trades made while working as a consultant and lobbyist. He was ordered to forfeit more than $350,000 in ill-gotten gains and pay a $10,000 fine. He was released from custody in 2025 after his conviction was upheld, with the Supreme Court declining to take up his appeal earlier this year. FG SETS UP COMMITTEE TO REVIEW VISA PROCESSES. (PHOTO).

 The Federal Executive Council has set up a tripartite committee to review visa processes and make them less cumbersome.


The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Muhammad Idris, stated this in Abuja while briefing State House correspondents on the outcome of this week’s FEC meeting.


He said the committee would work to make it possible for visas to be applied electronically and processed within 24 hours.


Also briefing, the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, said 600 CNG-powered buses would soon arrive in the country to ease transportation and make it affordable.


He also said 30 thousand conversion kits were on their way to sustain the policy and ease the cost of living brought about the government’s economic reforms.
