  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, said in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday that the arrest on Tuesday followed the intervention of men of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad following a distress call.


Abutu said in a statement on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Adeniran Akinwale, that “at about 18:00 hours, the command received a distress call that some suspected members of Buccaneer Confraternity Alora Sea Lord secret cult group were conducting themselves in a manner that could cause breach of peace on the campus of EKSU.”


He said that the command immediately deployed the RRS to the scene where eight suspected cult members were arrested.


The PPRO stated, “During the operation, some of the fleeing gang members fired gunshots at the Armoured Personnel Carrier conveying the RRS operatives and damaged the windshield. Efforts are in progress to arrest them and recover the weapons in their possession.


“Exhibits recovered from the arrested suspects are two yellow fez caps with Buccaneer Confraternity Alora Sea Lord secret cult logo and an inscription that reads – Santa Barbara Love Victory and Perfection,”
