 RE: MISLEADING CLAIMS REGARDING EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS BY LAGOS STATE TASKFORCE – YET-TO-BE-IDENTIFIED SECURITY OPERATIVES: ANOTHER CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY The Lagos State Taskforce wishes to address a misleading narrative circulating on social media, particularly in a viral video shared by protesters and concerned groups who recently demonstrated at the Lagos State House of Assembly. The protest was in response to the alleged extortion of motorists by security operatives, yet to be identified, who are not officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit. We categorically state that the Lagos State Taskforce had no involvement in the said incident. PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES MINISTER OF INFORMATION, MOHAMMED IDRIS, ON BIRTHDAY

 

President Bola Tinubu heartily congratulates Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, on his birthday.

 

The Minister is a seasoned public servant, publisher, and politician who has brought finesse and immense experience to his role as Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation.

 

Alhaji Idris has been at the forefront of the media and public relations industry as the Founder, Chairman, and Publisher of Blueprint Newspapers, and as the Chairman of Bifocal Group, a public relations consultancy, and Kings Broadcasting Limited, which operates the Abuja-based WE 106.5 FM.

 

His role as General Secretary of the Newspaper Proprietors' Association of Nigeria (NPAN) prior to his appointment as Minister accents his commitment and contributions to the media landscape in Nigeria.

 

President Tinubu commends the Minister for his diligence and noteworthy proclivity for balance.

PRESIDENT TINUBU FELICITATES MINISTER OF INTERIOR, OLUBUNMI TUNJI-OJO, ON BIRTHDAY

 

President Bola Tinubu warmly congratulates the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on the occasion of his birthday.

 

The Minister holds sterling credentials as an ICT and engineering professional, and public policy expert.

 

He successfully ran for public office twice to represent Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives, and has remained one of the propitious examples of the youth in government.

 

President Tinubu commends Mr. Tunji-Ojo for the vigour and dedication he has brought to his office as Minister of Interior, noting the visible reforms in the ministry and in the institutions under the ministry.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
