So Linus Williams (Blord) has been released from Kuje prison after fulfilling his bail conditions, finally, freedom after a few weeks in custody. However, here’s the current position of his case:  He is still expected to show up and stand his trial.  If he fails to appear in court even for one day, his bail can be revoked and a bench warrant may be issued against him, meaning a return to Kuje. If the prosecution cannot prove the charges against him, he will be discharged and acquitted. If the prosecution proves the charges, he may be sentenced and sent back to Kuje. I think he should seek a peaceful resolution to the case. Congrats to him on his freedom for now.

‘Sanwo-Olu will complete all projects before leaving office’

Lagos State Government remains committed to completing infrastructural projects that will positively impact the well-being of residents, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s aides said yesterday.

According to them, all ongoing projects would be completed before Governor Sanwo-Olu’s tenure expires.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Dr. Adekunle Olayinka, and his counterpart on Infrastructure, Engr. Olufemi Daramola, made the remark at the Ministerial Press Briefing to mark the first year of the governor’s second term in office.

Olayinka assured the people that the administration will deliver all iconic projects, such as the 150-bed Massey Children Hospital and the 280-bed General Hospital, Ojo.

Olayinka and Daramola explained that the administration, through the Office of Works, has deliberately continued to invest in building infrastructure as an avenue to discharge the social contract signed with residents.

They also said all projects inherited from past administrations will be completed.

“Through our projects, we have continuously provided jobs for hundreds of our people and provided impactful economic succour to those living in the State.

“We are aware of the attendant impact of building resilient infrastructure, which will generate a strong economic base for the productivity of our people, increase employment and foster innovation,” they noted.

Daramola highlighted some of the ongoing projects to achieve such feats to include ‘the Lagos Lagoon Highway, the 7th Axial Road, Taiwo Street, by China Town, Ojota, Shasha Link bridge (part of Union Road/ Shomorin/ Mortune Avenue/ Adama Dania/Mohammed /behind Airport Road), Ayetoro/Ashipa/ Parent’s Choice Ayobo-Igando Link Bridge/Alh. Shekoni Str, Ijegun-Ijeagemo Road to link LASU Iba Road.

Others are Okota/Apapa-Oshodi Expressway (Lord’s Chosen Road with link Bridge), Awodi-Ora /Olodi road with link Bridge, Ajeromi, Amukoko /Ogbowankwo link road with Bridge, Ajeromi.

He added that since inception of the Sanwo-Olu administration, the Public Works Corporation (PWC) has intervened on 2,702 roads, covering approximately 431.32 km, using an average carriageway width of 7.3m.

“This briefing represents an account of stewardship on some of the achievements of this administration in infrastructure. Governor Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat have shown deep commitment to the completion of all inherited projects, and also embarked on new strategic projects that will stand the test of time despite the global economic downturn.

“This administration has continued to deliberately invest in infrastructure as a critical development driver of the state’s economy, while also providing jobs for Lagosians and bringing immediate and impactful succour to commuters.

“It is important to note that we have completed 2.510km bridge (2,510m) while 3.13km (3132 meters) is currently ongoing in different parts of the state,” he said.

Daramola also said the damaged Alapere Pedestrian Bridge would be completed in the next five months. He attributed the delay in the reconstruction to rehabilitation of the Third Mainland, to further ease traffic flow.
