 Burkina Faso awards gold mine permit to Russia's Nordgold Burkina Faso has granted an industrial mining licence to Russian miner Nordgold for a gold project, the West African government said, aiming to capitalise on record-high gold prices to strengthen an economy hit by insecurity. The move signals deepening economic ties between Russia and Burkina Faso, as the junta that seized power in 2022 continues its pivot away from traditional Western allies towards Moscow, Reuters reported. The Niou gold deposit, located in the Kourweogo province of Burkina's Plateau-Central region, covers 52.8 square kilometres (20.4 square miles) within the exploration licence area held by Jilbey Burkina, which is now owned by Nordgold. Nordgold already operates the Bissa and Bouly mines. The council of ministers said late Thursday that the Niou mine was expected to yield approximately 20.22 metric tons of gold over its eight-year lifetime.  Singer Peter Okoye Undergoes Hair Transplant In Turkey


Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, also called Mr. P., has revealed that he is undergoing a hair transplant in Istanbul, Turkey.


Okoye shared the news on his Instagram story on Wednesday, posting a video captioned "Say goodbye to baldness." 


In the video, Okoye revealed that he is at MedHair Clinic in Istanbul, where he is being treated by a doctor.


"You guys know that I've been uncomfortable about it," Okoye said in the video, adding, "But see the before and after of the magic this guy is about to do."


Okoye continued explaining in the next video, saying, "The extraction part is done; we have about 2,400. I feel better 100%, just to look good for you guys."


On Thursday morning, Okoye shared another video update, showing the progress of the first day of his transplant. The caption for the video read, "Day 1. It is well."


It was reported in February that Nigerian record producer and singer, John Udomboso, aka Young Jonn, underwent successful hair transplant surgery.


He was said to have done the surgery in a bid to reclaim his receding hairline.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
