 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  TROOPS AMBUSH TERRORISTS ON TRANSIT TO COMMIT MAYHEM IN KADUNA, KILL ONE, RECOVER ARMS



Troops of Nigerian Army deployed for Counter-terrorism operations in Kaduna State have in a response to actionable intelligence ambushed terrorists transiting with arms in the Birnin Gwari axis of the state on Wednesday 15 May 2024.


The troops laid in ambush around Kwaga Village for the terrorists, known for causing mayhem within the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, neutralizing one terrorist, while others fled in disarray. 


The quick reaction of the troops not only prevented a potential attack on innocent citizens in the area,  but also led to the recovery of 2 AK 47 Rifles with magazines, as well as 2 motorbikes. 

Troops are currently in pursuit of the fleeing terrorists.
