 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  Why I prostrated to greet IBD Dende – Teni


Afrobeats singer Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni has explained the reasons for prostrating to greet popular businessman and socialite, Ibrahim Egungbohun Dende, aka IBD Dende, on a plane recently.

Following Teni’s action, netizens criticised her for also sharing the video prostrating to greet IBD Dende.

Most of the commentators slammed her for associating with IBD Dende despite smuggling allegations against him.

Reacting on Saturday morning, Teni explained that she wasn’t aware of any criminal activities associated with IBD Dende, adding that the businessman showed her kindness in 2014 before she hit stardom, making her hold him in high esteem.

She noted that she does not support criminals.

She wrote: “[I] Met IBD [Dende] in 2014 and he was so good to me, even before I blew up. So when[ever] I see him, it’s always love.

“I honestly had no knowledge of any criminal activities associated with him. I do not support criminals, so let the law take its course.”
