 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. A WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER SHE TOLD HER BOYFRIEND'S CHILDREN TO STAND IN VERY HOT WATER, CAUSING THEM BURNS AND SEIZURES. (PHOTO).


 Ohio woman in custody after forcing her boyfriend's children to stand in scalding hot water causing serious burns and seizures. 


22-year-old Malynda Harrison was taken into custody on Sunday after an investigation into a June 6 incident.


On that day first responders were called to a home in Guyan Township, Ohio to the report of a 5-year-old girl suffering from a seizure. Once on scene the EMS workers noticed the young girl had sustained severe burns to a large portion of her body. The child was immediately transported to Huntington, Ohio, for treatment. 


Police began an investigation and soon uncovered evidence suggesting the girl's condition was a direct result of Harrison's actions. According to police Harrison is in a relationship with the father of the children and was watching them when the incident occurred. During an Interveiw with officers Harrison admitted to placing the 5-year-old and her 4-year-old sister in a tub filled with scalding water and physically restraining them to keep them from exiting.  The 4-year-old also suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns. 


Malynda Harrison is being charged with 2 counts of Felony child endangerment and is being held on $500,000 bond.
