 Benue Governor Claims Foreign Terrorists Behind Deadly Attacks Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has alleged that the perpetrators of recent deadly attacks in the state are not Nigerians, describing them as foreign nationals speaking unfamiliar languages and exhibiting non-Nigerian characteristics. The governor made the remarks on Tuesday following a wave of violence that has killed scores and displaced many in the North-Central state. Speaking on the identity of the attackers, Governor Alia emphasized the need to clarify the nature of the threat. “We know Nigerians—by our ethnicities, we can identify a Fulani, Yoruba, or Hausa man. Even traditional herders, we know them, herding with sticks,” he said. “But these attackers come fully armed with AK-47s and 49s.  Anambra State Government Collaborates with National Library to Establish State Branch

The National Librarian, Prof Chinwe Anunobi has highlighted the importance of establishing national libraries in states.


Prof Anunobi stated this during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo to collaborate in establishing the state branch of National Library.


She noted that the institution serves as custodian of the nation's intellectual, provide material for scholars and will be easily accessible to publishers who wants ISBN numbers.


Responding, Governor Soludo who was represented by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim pledged his support for the initiative.


Dr Ibezim explained that the initiative was in line with Governor Soludo's mission of improving the quality of education in the state.


He acknowledged the impact having a branch of national library in the state would have.


In his remarks, the Commissioner for information, Sir Paul Nwosu explained that the reason of the visit was to discuss ways of establishing the branch of the national library within the state, listing the roles national library plays in promoting education, research and innovation.


The Permanent Secretary,  Ministry of Information,  the Acting Director Anambra State library Board,  Mrs Obiọma Obalum, and the Deputy Chief Quantity Surveyor, Mr Peter Uchegbu among others were present at the meeting.
